The excitement was palpable in Kingsisland this week as the heavy machinery rolled on site to mark the dawn of a new era in the history of St John's PS Kingsisland.
Who better to give the privilege of cutting the first sod, in the construction of our new school building, than to our current class of Primary 1 pupils.
The pupils are pictured with their teachers, representatives from the Department of Education, and appointed Architects and Building Contractors.
Once complete, the new building will comprise of 8 new classrooms, a new computer suite and library, 3 new multi-purpose rooms, 4 sets of new pupil toilets, 2 new resource areas, 7 new cloakrooms, multiple additional store areas, medical rooms, hygiene rooms, new staff room, new office accommodation and redeveloped school grounds, including an additional new 3G football pitch and redesigned children’s play frames.
The new construction phase of building work comes hot on the heels of a £500,000 investment in a multi-purpose hall in Kingsisland a few years previously.
This new £4 Million investment will offer our pupils and staff, a fit for purpose, modern, state of the art school building, that will provide a bedrock of educational excellence, in which many future generations of pupils in Kingsisland Primary School will benefit from.
